How contagious is Hepatitus C?

I have had almost every std except hep c, but I recently slept with a sex addict and his nasty gross lewd ass gave me the clap, its been almost 5 days since the treatment and I still don't think its gone. A lot of my friends have told me not to worry about hep c, I wouldn't worry once an all antiviral treatment comes out but have any of you caught hep c? and got rid of it successfully?

My doctor at one time kept bugging me about it, he said you can be at risk for hep c but if you caught it don't worry so much the treatments now are better, but now he just tests me for it every time I go in.

if you or your "sex addict" friend didn't wear a condom -- you're fully aware that you're open to transmitting and/or infecting communicable diseases. If you didn't know that, ... well... have fun.

That said, a "bareback fuck site" isn't the place for you to become educated on Hep-C -- or any other transmittable disease.

See your doctor or someone educated with a medical degree -- make sense?

Also, don't confuse "treatment" with "cure". You don't want Hep-C.

I agree with this barefuck, don't expect education from someone who may not know anything about Hep C, or it's "CURE". Yes, and don't confuse treatment with cure, just as you should never confuse a transmittable disease with an STD. In fact, Hep C is NOT an STD! The virus is very low in seminal fluid, spit and other body fluids. Just as the CDC's own site (see other posters link) states, it's main transmission is from needle sharing. So someone not using a condom while fucking you is almost unlikely to give you Hep. C, unless you are BOTH bleeding (very rare).

In fact, when the magazine HEP (see below) puts out an article talking about the new treatments that you only take for 12 weeks being a "CURE", I say that there is a cure.*** (also see next post for other facts/myths)

I mean if you only have to take the drug for 12 weeks, then go off of it, I believe that Gilead, AbbVie and Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), along with the FDA is intending to mean you're cured, and not that you just treat for 12 weeks, then give up and let the Hep takes it course.

I wouldn't say that Hep. C is something you "Want" to get, but if you got it, then seek treatment quickly, so you can cure it, rather than letting it go, thinking it's "HOPELESS" as some uneducated people would want you to believe. Because from what I've read in articles from health sites, if Hep. C is caught early, and treated, it is curable, and will have less damage.

I didn't know much about how you get it & how you can get treated...etc until I got it (caught it) 2 yrs ago. I was lucky and disciplined enough to check STD(STI)'s regularly but that time, I sensed something was not right instinctively even before my regular check up. So there was, I was diagnosed that I caught hep C! The doctor told me that hep C is "blood borne" disease, meaning you can ONLY get it from blood to blood. I remember certain things and fuck just before I found out me catching hep C. The bottom guy had a little bit of bumpy rough and dryer rim in the hole, I was so keen on just slide my cock in his ass that I didn't put enough lube. After a while pounding his hole, I remember my cock got really raw and had a sharp tingling sensation around the neck rim of my cock head. It felt pain when I took my cock out of his bred hole. I didn't see any bleeding on my cock but probably my dick was scarred on the tissue and maybe the guy was bleeding inside. There must have been "blood to blood" contact even in a micro scale.

That was the bad news but the good news was that if I get on the drug treatment early enough, there is a higher chance of clearing the virus. They put me on interferon treatment, combination of injection and pills for about 6 months. It was pain in the butt to keep injecting with needles which I was terrified about every so often without missing a dose. In the beginning it took me about 30 min to be able to poke my waist. I was shaking & horrified to stick a needle into my skin by myself. After so many times of this horrible DIY needle injection, I started to get easy on this, got as a routine so it was totally fine towards the end. There were several check ups along the way and it was amazing to see the viral load was dropping significantly. I went through 6 more months of blood check after the completion of drug treatment and the doctor concluded that I don't carry the virus anymore!! Wow! The treatment reversed the disease completely! I used to think hep C would be one of the deadliest & incurable diseases among STD(STI)'s but I proved it wrong if you do it right with the professionals. So I encourage you to be well informed with hep C and discipline enough to take charge with checking up often and be responsible to yourself.

You can always have a way to change the course if you act & react quickly.
