Extensive wooded land in North London. Only at part below Jack Straws Castle, below Heath Brow. Open pathway runs along woodland. Easy enough to negotiate. Definitely more pleasant in summer, but action 24/7/365. This is known as the best and busiest cruising area in Europe. Please take your used condoms, lube packets, etc, with you.

All types: Twinks, muscle guys, leather guys, older guys, TV, TS, CD, bears, chavs, rent boys, preppy guys, goths, skinheads; in fact, such is the international population of London and the great allure of this, the greatest cruising area in Europe, the West Heath attracts an A to Z of nationalities.

The main entrance onto the gay West Heath is from behind the apartments 'Jack Straws Castle'. The street address is Heath Brow. So, everything below Heath Brow is cruisy. Tube: Hampstead underground station. Turn right out of the station and then right again up Heath Street. Continue walking up the street for 5-10 minutes until you get to the big pond. Just past the pond, the road forks at a war memorial, with the former Jack Straw's Castle pub on the left (a large, historic, yellow buildling - it is helpfully still labelled JSC). Next to the former pub (now flats) is a little lane called Heath Brow running off to the left. Follow the lane down (there is a pay n display car park) and it turns into a track and then steps down into the heath. Bus: Best routes are 268 (from Finchley Road/Swiss Cottage or Golders Green) or the N5 Night Bus. Both of these stop at Jack Straws Castle (and announce the stop). Northern Line Night Tube running on Friday and Saturday all through the night.

All day, 24/7/365.
Best times: Summer 4pm-3am
Winter: 2pm until 2am.

Usual British thing - look a lot, be uncertain about the whole thing then possibly lose out completely.

Cruisiest Spot: Below Jack Straws castle then deep into the woods. Follow the path until you find the infamous and illusive 'fuck tree'. The fuck tree is at "stump.
vibes.rich" on the What Three Words location appLots of people ask the way to the fuck tree - if you go down the steps from Jack Straw's Castle, you hit the main path running left-right. Turn right and follow the path (there will be guys hanging around on the path). You will see some buildings high up on the right and the path then bears round to the left. Shortly after this, there is a turning down to the left. Take this and follow the path down into the woods. Eventually, this opens out on the right and there are usually guys heading in that direction. Tends to be very quiet before about 10pm. Google coordinates for the fuck tree are 51.564883, -0.186336.

Apart from entering from the direction of Jack Straw's Castle, there is another "entrance". This is located on West Heath Road at the junction with Redington Road. The parking here is much easier, and you only have to pay for parking between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. The dense bushes on the Heath opposite Redington Road are used most frequently for "quickies" any time of day or night. This has been the case for at least 30 years, so it is very well established. Regular users of the Heath know this area well. Also just adjacent to this area is a west-facing sunny meadow where the grass grows long in summer and always has gay sunbathers with a a very cruisy feel about it when the sum is warm.

Anything goes; nudity, groups, expect to bump into people in fancy dress etc...

Warnings: Watch out for dog walkers during the day and the occasional parks land rover which usually sticks to the main paths but can go off track.
