September 18, 201015 yr Hi, Took a load from a guy who recently converted and has a high Viral Load. Have got a home testing kit that I would like to use before going to get a test at a clinic. Been told that the test will give a more accurate result 12 weeks after exposure, but not sure, Is it worth doing it sooner, just dont want to waste it if it doesnt give me and accurate reading. When do you think I should take the test?

When do you think I should take the test? The test looks for the antibodies caused by the HIV and they don't show up in detectable amounts until 3 months after infection. 12 weeks is a good idea just so you can get the most from the kit. Some private clinics selling postal tests over the internet have been known to not bother running the test and just decide on a result. Whatever the results go for an official test anyway.
